Handing over the ASEAN Tourism Award to homestay owners in Huu Lien

On the morning of August 14, the Provincial Center for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion held a ceremony to hand over the ASEAN Tourism Award 2025 to a group of homestays in Huu Lien commune and opened a training course on communication skills and homestay management for local households.

The Yen Thinh homestay group (formerly), now under Huu Lien commune, was one of five representatives from Vietnam honored at the ASEAN Tourism Awards 2025 in January 2025, an event held within the framework of the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) in Malaysia. The five awarded homestays include La Nha Homestay, Mao’homestay by Vietclimb, Minh Nhat Homestay, Lang Giang Homestay, and Phu Quy Homestay.

This award is international recognition of destinations that meet criteria for sustainable tourism development, environmental friendliness, community engagement, and providing unique experiences for visitors.

At the event, leaders of the Provincial Center for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion officially handed over the award to the leader of Huu Lien commune and representatives of the five homestays. The recognition of the homestay group in Huu Lien is clear evidence of the province’s right direction in developing community-based tourism, closely linked with preserving cultural, historical, and natural heritage values.

As part of the event, the Provincial Center for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion also opened a training course on communication skills and homestay management for 43 tourism business households in Huu Lien Commune.

Overview of the training course

During the two days (August 14–15), participants experienced training on general overview of tourism issues; basic requirements for operating homestay tourism; methods of hospitality and accommodation services in the homestay model and guidance on establishing homestay tourism facilities.

The training course not only contributes to improving service quality and meeting the growing demands of visitors but also helps Huu Lien commune effectively tap into its tourism potential, preserve and promote traditional cultural values, and bring sustainable livelihoods to local residents.
